Monday September 06 Bioluminescence Paddle 7:30-10:30pm From Hollyhock, we drive to Mansons Lagoon to launch our kayaks. Paddling into the setting sun we watch the stars come out. Then asthe darkness deepens we can play in the fairy dust swirling away from paddles and finger tips as the bioluminescence begins to glow. This effect is caused by a plankton which blooms in the warm summer waters. Cost$70
Wednesday September 08 Afternoon Paddle 1:30- 5:30 Departing from Hollyhock we drive to Smelt Bay to launch our kayaks for the afternoon. With the low tide today, we hope to exploreSutil Point Reef with its fascinating intertidal life, eagles fishingin the tide pools and seals basking in the sun. Cost $85
Wednesday September 08 Misty Isles Cruise to Refuge Cove 1:30- 6:30 This afternoon Misty Isles will leave from the Hollyhock beach and sail through the entrance of Desolation Sound, north up Lewis Channel and into picturesque Refuge Cove on West Redonda Island. Accessible only by boat or float plane, this little community is a good representation of what coastal life was like in the early 1900s. It now boasts astore and a cafe and is a popular stop over for yachters exploring Desolation Sound. For us Refuge Cove is a fun destination for our cruise through this amazing area. Cost $94
Friday September 10 Hollyhock Kayak Mothership Workshop With the Misty Isles as our mothership, we'll depart from Hollyhock each day with our kayaks loaded onboard. Explore the spectacular waters around Cortes Island and Desolation Sound as you drift by mountains that soar up from the sea. Learn the skills to be safe and comfortable in your kayak. Cruise by historic sites as your guide's vivid stories bring the region's past to life. Return to Hollyhock each night in time for dinner and a hot tub! www.hollyhock.ca for details
